Today's nightmare and Mike's worst nightmare

Ok, so I am putting off sending pictures to my mom and doing the dishes to tell this. It must be told!! It would be a crime for others not to laugh at this!!

Today started off normal!! Mike left for work early. I was taking Drew and Grace to school early so that I could do the PTO thing and work the Valentine's store. As I get in the car, I notice the kleenex box from the center console on my floor board. Strange. Then, I notice in the "change dish" (which probably has no change in it thanks to Caleb) is all askew. I keep the gift cards and Y I.D. cards there. Well.....then, I open the console and notice that the ziploc with the $15 or so from Grace's class for their Valentine party was not there. I jumped to conclusions and started demanding Grace tell me where it is. I was not happy. We get to school and I kinda forget about it. My friend Susie calls to tell me that two people tried to break into her car last night.....well, I begin thinking. I get home and hang up with her. I started to clean the kitchen when it dawns on me the Garmin GPS was in the console with its cords. I run out of here (Caleb and Sarah stunned) to check the car. No, GPS. No, cords. No, ziploc of money. I had already called Mike (he was in a meeting, of course). Needless to say, I spent the morning, calling friends to pray for us, calling the insurance company to report the incident, talking to the sherriff's officer and just plain feeling violated. Fortunately, we have the serial number for the GPS and that may help in all of this. We will see.

I know, we are all safe and very fortunate. I don't remember the dogs barking in the night....but, I took a nyquil as my sinuses are throbbing. God is good and these items are replaceable. My kids are healthy and happy. Mike is here!! I am blessed and I know it (but did they have to do it the night of my birthday, morning after?)!! By the way, I did apologize to Drew and Grace when I picked them up from school!!

So, for Mike's worst nightmare......you might want to go to the bathroom before reading this. It is too funny and a warning for ALL parents of girls (and boys, too)!! So, Mike headed to class this evening and I have the kids working on valentine pictures and boxes. I was working on dinner when the phone rang. I didn't recognize the number, so I answered it. This sweet voice asks "is Grace there? This is Dominic." OK, I know the little guy. He is adorable!! But, that is not the point. So, Grace comes to the phone and they start a conversation that goes something like this (I have it on speaker phone):

G: "Hi!" (blushing)
D: " I wanted to tell you I am sorry for telling on you today."
G: "That's OK."
(me in the background, going "what did you do, Grace?" and she shrugs.)
D: "Shelby's number didn't work....I think you have to have 7 numbers....your's does, I think (he counts to 7).....Yeah, your's has 7 and it works."
(me again in the background going "how did he get your number?" Grace going "I gave it to him." I almost wet my pants, laughing and cringing.)

The conversations goes on for a couple of minutes about what they were doing, what kind of valentine's they each had, etc. I finally told her to tell him bye. She does and hangs up. A minute later, the phone rings, I answer it, and he asks for Grace. Then, he says that the phone just clicked. I told him she said bye and hung up. I also told him they could talk tomorrow in school.

OK, so Yes, it is quite humerous. BUT, this causes me to re-evaluate the importance of kindergartener's learning their phone numbers for safety reasons. Ummmm......I think Grace thought it was to pass along to boys!!

So, Mike and I ask for your prayers. As Grace is just 5 and this is already happening!!! (Pray for Grace that Mike doesn't really lock her in the basement for the next 20 years!!) I tell my story as a warning to all parents of young girls!! Watch out for who they tell their phone number to!!
