Trail West #1

The West Family has hit the trail and headed to Trail West http://sites.younglife.org/camps/TrailWest/default.aspx. I know, really bad....but, it did work. We have been truly blessed with an opportunity of a life time. Through the chaplain's office and Young Life (http://www.younglife.org/), we are at a family camp in Buena Vista, CO. It was something we applied for in April but we were put on a waiting list. Never thinking of it again, we got a call on August 1st asking us if we were still interested. Absolutely was our answer. So, we headed up here yesterday after church for a week long family camp.

Now, I must admit, I had no idea what were getting into. But, a week vacations, we just couldn't pass it up. I didn't really know what Young Life was until about a year ago. But, I still didn't get the whole picture until this afternoon. You will have to look at the website to see what an awesome ministry it is. So, we got to the gate yesterday and were greeted by horses. The kids were fascinated. We had talked about riding horses (like there is nothing else to do here) all last week. Then, after there were several cars, the horses lead us to the stagecoach. There were probably 30 people waiting for us, cheering for us, singing, clapping. It was amazing!! This was the first tear moment for me. I was so overwhelmed and impressed. Well, we got out of the car and joined the singing. At that time, a volunteer here at the camp took our car to park it. Little did we know they were unloading it too!! BONUS!! (Good thing I had cleaned it out this past week!!) Everywhere we go, the volunteers here at Trail West cheer and greet us. It is amazing!! We have a beautiful young lady that has been assigned to pray for our family the whole week. They gave us a schedule that is amazing!! We have so many opportunities to relax and have family time and couple time. There is kid's klub where to kids have scheduled activities. They love it. And, ALL 4 go!! Can't beat that!!
Today we had a horseless rodeo!! It was a blast. We played games and just had fun!! Then, we came back for lunch. (By the way, the meals are phenomenal!!) Then the kids went to kids klub, we took a breather and all headed out on a jeep tour. We went up the mountains to an old mining town, St. Elmo. The kids enjoyed the ride and loved feeding the chipmunks. Then, it was back down for dinner, more kid's klub and Mike and I got to go to the jr. high camp to hear the evening message. It has been great. I will try and post every day. The connection is not great, but we are lucky to get anything. We like to check the olympic highlights, swim Michael swim!! I am having problems with pictures tonight. I will try more tomorrow. I have several great ones from today. I can always add them when we get back.
Getting instructions at the horseless rodeo!!
Grace enjoying the not stinky horse!!
Until tomorrow................................
