Field of Fun Day

Field day when I was a kid was actually track and field events. However, at Drew's school it was fun events. I have to say, I had a blast. There were 10 stations. Throughout the year, the PE teacher has shown each of the events to the kids. She has the kids in color groups throughout the year. So, when Drew goes to PE, he is always in the orange group. There are six color groups. As they went from station to station, there was always a red x, a green one, blue, orange purple and yellow. The kids knew right where to go. The entire day was run by the sixth graders who did an outstanding job. I have to give the PE teacher, Ms. Olin a huge "Great Job!!!". It was one of the most organized, best run events I have been to. OK, I know that this is just my first field day. Amazing!!! That is all I have to say.
OK, so this is Team Dilley (His teacher is Ms. Dilley). They are not competing against each other. They are trying to get as many points as a class as they can. The kindergarten classes are competing against each other. Drew's class came in 2nd. As Ms. Dilley says, Ms. V (the gold ribbon winning teacher) is much louder than the rest of the teachers. You got points for cheering your class along. We tried!!!
Here are a couple of pictures from the stations. I had to go to the bathroom about station 7 (the coffee was through me). They put the funniest one there. The kids had to run and jump rope to the cone and back. I thought I was going to pee my pants from laughing at these kindergartens. There were 3 girls who could do it, but the boys. OH, MY!!!! If only you could have been there!! Drew did end up on the ground (as did several of the kids)!!
Drew's favorite event was the scooter. You rode it down backwards on your bum. At the cone, you went forwards on your belly. He was down and back before most of them were even down. He loved it and had a blast!!
The final event was the tire roll. They did very well. You can tell from the picture that Drew was done!! It was so much fun!! Kuddos to Ms. Olin and the sixth graders for running a great day of fun!!
